I qualified as a Solicitor in 1988 having first been called to the Bar in 1982 and thereafter completing my pupillage at 2 Dr. Johnson’s Building, Temple, London.

I first worked in London at Eatons Solicitors (formerly Eaton & Burley) and became a Partner there in the 1990s. The firm specialised in music law (e.g. recording, publishing, management agreements) and as well as dealing with those and litigation, I alone handled all residential, commercial and leasehold property matters.

In 2002 Eatons merged with Mishcon de Reya and shortly after I moved back “home” to Leicestershire and joined Wartnaby Hefford in August 2003 as a Property Solicitor and became a Partner in 2005.

At Wartnaby Hefford my work now relates solely to commercial property matters and high value residential conveyancing (freehold and leasehold). Commercial property matters include freehold and leasehold acquisitions, commercial leases, agreements relating to options, promotion, development, overage etc.

I am married with four children and four dogs (which was a reason for leaving London for Leicestershire).

I enjoy all sport, especially cricket but mainly football. Sadly, my playing days are over but I am an avid supporter and season ticket holder of Leicester City (another reason for moving from London!).

My long suffering Secretary is Alison Prime, who has been at Wartnaby Hefford since 1998, and if you have any initial enquiries you can contact either myself or Alison.

David qualified as Solicitor in 2002 and has specialised in family law and civil litigation. He became a Partner in 2014.  David’s family law case load includes divorces, financial matters arising out of separation and disputes between parents and family members over child arrangements.

David’s civil law practice includes contractual disputes, disputes between business owners, claims in relation to breach of contract and negligence together with a wide range of property disputes.

Sarah studied History of Art, at both the University of Leicester and the Università di Pisa, Italy. Following her studies, Sarah lived and worked in Italy, before returning to the UK and studying for a second degree at the University of Law in London and then completing the Legal Practice Course, to become a Solicitor.

Sarah joined the family firm in 2008. Sarah’s practice focuses largely on Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney and she is the partner who heads up the Private Client department. Sarah’s role is very client-focused and she greatly enjoys the interaction with her clients.

I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2009 after starting out as a secretary for Janice Hefford in 2002.   My experience has been from the grass roots upwards, giving me a rounded knowledge of the conveyancing process through the eyes of a secretary right through to becoming a Partner at the firm in 2016, following the merger with Wartnabys in December 2012.  I deal with the majority of residential transactions in the firm which include:

• Purchases
• Transfers of Equity
• Re-mortgages
• Shared ownership

Kirstie deals with a broad range of private client issues including the preparation of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, estates (from the simple to multi million pound with complex assets), trust creation and administration and can provide general and tax advice in relation to those matters with assistance from her Secretary, Julie Yates. Kirstie has over 17 years of experience in the role having worked as a paralegal before qualifying as a solicitor in March 2011.

Trusha qualified as a solicitor in 2018. She works in our Wills Probates and Trusts department.  Her caseload includes, life Interest trust wills, discretionary trust wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Grant of Probate applications and administration of estates, intestate estates, Trust Registration Scheme (TRS), Deeds of Variation, Court of Protection Deputyship applications, Deed of Appointments (out of trusts), Deed of Appointment and Retirement of Trustees, Declarations of Trust.

I qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in April 2008 after completing a degree in European Studies specialising in European history, European politics and the German language and the 4 year course included a year studying at university in Germany. The transition into law was not deliberate, but I found out that I really enjoyed the challenge of learning something new and quite different to what I had been studying previously.

As I moved up in the firm, I was able to achieve a really thorough understanding of the entire Conveyancing process. After having my children, I had a small career break where I worked as a locum for local firms before joining Wartnaby Hefford in October 2023. I deal with residential transactions in the firm, which include sales, purchases, transfers of equity, re-mortgages and leasehold transactions.
